This work creates clear oppositions between the leading trumpet, the woods, the strings, the little wind section and the four horns. Another clear opposition appears between the three movements wich compose this work : an adagio median, without too strong insistence, slips between enthusiastic and cheerful first movement and a scherzo enlarged in the finale of the symphonie. The part of the trumpet solo, very bright, allows the soloist to highlight the instrument in all its registers. The Sinfonia concertante for trumpet was performed by various interpreters and conductors in the framework of the symphonic concerts in Grenoble (France).
